on the good side...
note: I am using 6 mp jpeg for this test.
1 5 frames a second for almost 4 seconds..
2 2 frames a second with sb800 at night.
3 ( hold the shutter and pan slowly.)
4 very solid pro build.
5 matrix metering that works very well.
6 flash metering that works very well.
7 fast focus.
8 really sharp viewfinder that is exact frame.
9 easy viewfinder focus adjustment that works well.
10 12mp.
11 several hundred images on one battery,
and it shows 56%
thats with postview on each shot.
B&H: replacement batteries are 2300 ma, and ~$60
instead of 1800ma and $110
(6,8,9,10,11 unlike the fuji S2 pro)
indoors, with the sb800 set up 45 and left rear 45 bounce,
the flash exposure is correct, and lighting is beautiful.
I tried up, down, left, right, and they were really nice.
playback on large and sharp lcd on the camrea.
multiple pages of each image.
image, histo, overexposure, exif data.
4 way selector runs one way through the images,
and the other way through the pages.
d2x allows changing control actions.
I reversed the up dn / lt rt action of the playback.
now lt/rt moves through the images like the P2000,
and up/dn moves through the pages.
any page can be the 'preview',
actually postview, page after a shot.
overexposure flashing works well for me.
shooting iso 800, 1600 and 3200 at night,
you get shots that capture the action,
with noise, but very acceptable noise.
ISO 1600, 3200 films have more 'noise'.
only normal noise reduction was set.
so far, worst complaint is that the iso list
does not include 'auto' as a choice.
you have to go into the menu to set or unset auto.
seems a silly omission.
the images seem dark, but I loose highlights rarely.
increasing exposure by a half stop or even a full stop
might be an improvement, and I will test this out.
exposure bracketing, white balance bracketing,
flash bracketing, or any combination of them.
menu choices are amazing.
i will never know them all.
does almost everything well.
speedy enough to load and unload images.
long battery life.
big bright lcd display.
40 gb
weakness:
slow to display image.
slide show feature requires a clumsy transition.
'no transition' should be a choice.
as is, it is of no use to me.
note to first users:
