Someone awhile back asked me to report on the Hercules Game Theater XP sound system so here goes a quick little blurb:
The card is great, I get much better sound than my sblive value, or my aureal vortex (I think the one with the 8800 sound) all the speaker outputs are very nice, and having optical cable works great for my minidisc player. Headphone out is great with adjustable volume right on front, and the mic in on the front can also be adjusted without touching your mouse. I don't use USB devices so the fact that I have 3 more USB ports isn't anything special but for some people it might be, and right now I just rigged up two sets of speakers for 4.1 channel sound and its great.
This is deffinitly a far superior product than the sblive platinum and the digital coaxial, and optical digital cables are very nice. $114 for brown box was an exelent deal and I'd have to recomend this card to anyone willing to spend over $100 for a sound card.
It works without problems on my computer which has the following components:
1.33 GHz AMD Tbird
Asus A7M266 motherboard
256 megs of Corsair PC2400 DDR ram
IBM 75GXP 45 gig 7200 RPM hard drive
Visiontek geforce 3
Pinnacle Systems Studio DV firewire card (PCI slot 3)
Netgear NIC (PCI slot 4)
Game theater XP (PCI slot 5)

Yeah, I agree. That card has been somewhat of a mystery before now.

oh yea just a tiny update, I'm running windows98se, but I might try the newest XP beta, I have release candidate 1 from my friends MSDN account he wants me to test for him, so I'll report back once I install that dual boot

That'd be nice. I haven't been able to install my copy of Whistler yet.
