Hey all, these are approaching the final set of specs! As per usual, I've had loads of brilliant advice so far yet need compatibility checks as I'm struggling to poke flaws and that usually means something is wrong :p

Thanks a lot in advance!

CPU : Intel i5-2500k
Fan : CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO EDIT
Mobo : Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3
GPU : Sapphire HD7850 860mhz (toyed with idea of GTX570)
Solid State : A-DATA 120gb SATAIII EDIT
Hard Drive : 1TB Seagate Barracuda 5900rpm
RAM : Corsair 8gb 1600mhz (1.5v) (2x4gb) EDIT
PSU : OCZ 550W ZT (Modular)
Case : Antec Three Hundred Two
DVD : Liteon iHAS124 24x

I have made a few edits above 13/06/12 to the SSD (reliability route) and RAM (incorrect voltages pointed out by Why_Me) and the CPU Fan (bang for buck, very well reviewed Hyper212 Evo)

That RAM needs to be changed. You have that old school 1.65v RAM and you want 1.5v for these 1155 boards.

Le us know how the build goes!

Will do! :)  I'm just paranoid I've chosen a bad component..... But I should be ordering tomorrow, but may not be able to make it for another week. Thanks!

On the subject of RAM, just a small question.... Apparently 1333 RAM chips are recommended on the Sandy Bridge motherboards? I'm not entirely sure why, yet that is what I've read.

1333 is the default for all DDR3 RAM. 1600hz will work fine for your build.

Edit of initial specs! See above!

-RAM, after advice
-SSD, changing to a more reliable/new drive
-Fan, well reviewed and better bang for buck

Thanks :)

Sorry to pester you but I need some final advice regarding power supplies! (All threads I have previously found are US so component costs vary etc).

I'm not looking for anything much, but I want bang for buck and want to allow for some overclocking, hence was looking around 550-650W. I was wondering which one of these you thought would be the best investment, linked in cost order (£60 budget for PSU).

XFX 550W Core Edition - £47.98
OCZ ZT Modular 550W - £54.99
Coolermaster GX-RS650w - £57.18
OCZ ZS 750w - £59.98

Thanks very much, I promise no more questions :)

The first one is the best deal.

Well I built it, but it isn't booting.... When I press for power, it doesn't seem like anything happens at all. The power supply I'm using is an XFX 550W Core Pro series. It surprisingly had a 2 prong plug, which isn't what we use in the UK (I bought it off Amazon UK), and I used an adaptor for the classic 3 rectangular prong UK. I wonder if that is the issue?
