Hello,

I recently did some work on my horrible Acer Aspire AX1300 half height PC. I had to install a new PSU but it is sat outside the case. I also had to move my DVD drive forward to allow the SATA power connector.

When I turned it on it booted into Win 7 fine but I noticed that there was strange ticking noise that appears to be coming from the CPU fan area. It's not loud at but it's annoying, also my CPU fan is louder than normal.

I'm pretty sure it isn't from the HDD, it may be the DVD drive. It boots fine and such.

Thanks in advanced.

Had a similar issue myself once, it was a cable just slightly catching the fan.
If I'm right it's an easy fix and you feel a bit silly.
If I'm wrong I seem kinda patronising. Apologies if it's the later

There's only one fan in the case, on the heatsink, the SATA power connector is touching the outer plastic but not any blades or the fins. Could that be an issue?
