Does anybody know how to save the game?!?! I'm confused re Hero Save, the
AutoSave. It seems like you can't save your Hero and his equipment,
experience while in the Guild.

BTW, the printed manual is terrible!!!

I'm having the same problem. I can't seem to get the game to save
durring the initial training stage at the Hero's Guild. Every time I
load the game it jumps back to the first cut scene outside the
village.

I notice once you complete training the Hero Save becomes WORLD save. I
am as confused as you so I waited till I saw Autosave (at completion of
training) and then took a break. I used World Save at that point also.

Sorry, could not answer your question but I concur on both counts.

15 hours STRAIGHT?! It must be one heck of a game! The longest I've ever
played a game in a single day is 10 hours on FFX-2, and that happened twice
in the same weekend :)

Anybody else have some gaming marathon stories to tell? I bet there's at
least a couple involving Halo.

It is a lot of fun, but rather laborious at times. One thing I'm wondering
is, how picky should I be in choosing a wife? I assume that giving a woman
who loves you (big pink heart over her head) a wedding ring would pretty
much seal the deal. But I imagine the choice of spouse is properly pretty
key. For this, my first character, I intend to have only one wife and be
monogamous (boring, I know) -- so I better make the right selection!

I'm always the angelic good Samaritan in everything (especially KOTOR), so
I'm going to try and be the angel of death instead this time around (don't
have the game yet, though). You know what I mean: stealing, murdering, and
generally whatever else I can find that's evil. Also, I'm always the melee
fighter so I'll probably never have a long-range-fighting thin guy as a
character. Some tattoos will help, and maybe a frightening afro. How does
everyone else around here play/plan on playing Fable?

Is that all you have to do to get married? I gave a women with a big heart
over her head a real wedding ring and it says I still have no wife. I can't
figure out how to get married.

This is going to be one of those games that causes me to lose a lot of
sleep. I just stopped playing it's 1 am here and I have to get up at 7 am.

Actually, it's only an engagement ring... You have to purchase a marital
home and make her follow you up there... She will ask you if you want to get
married.

Me too, at least a first. I referred to my KOTOR character as a "saintly
berobed philosopher." But then, after my first run-through, I became a
"vicious murdering bastard." That was fun, too.

Is there an actual item called "marital home" that is available at the
kiosks (LOL)? Do you have to contact a real estate broker (LMBO)? Should I
get a flat-rate mortagage (ROTFL)? :)

I was not kidding.... perhaps it's only because english is not my primary
language...

Anyway, to get a house, you have to find a house with a "to sell" post sign
in front. Just use the action button on the sign and it will ask you if you
want to purchase this house. (Prices varies depending of the house and the
town).

Once purchased, you can either:
-sell it back
-bring your "bride to be" in
-re-decorate it
-rent it.

Be advised that if you play an evil character, you can always kill house and
shops owners and purchase every house afterward for a smaller fee... ^_^ and
sell them back for a nicer price when peoples starts to come back to town...

It's odd, I've done lots of stealing (been caught several times), killed
Maze in the arena, and even killed a woman who was in love with me because I
thought she had something I was looking for, and I'm still overwhelmingly a
good guy. When it came time in the plot to choose between stiffing someone
or being fair I was fair, though. IMO, the game isn't sensitive enough to
things you do outside the plot vein to sway your character.

You must be a *very* bad boy. I googled 'fable faq' a couple nights back
and as I recall, it was the publisher's site that had a faq which basically
said you have horns, stench, and flies if you're *very* evil. Conversely,
you can get a halo if you're seriously good.

If you want to be truly evil, try attacking a NPC in a town, my
character is slowly being redeemed after I slaughtered everyone in sight
in Oakvale, including the guards one time, cause I got frustrated at a
merchant. I also sacrificed a hired fighter to the evil shrine. I was
trying to open one of the demon doors.

Hero Save is for saving your character. It only saves: Items, Experience
etc. It will NOT save quest progress.

World Save saves every thing, including quest progress. It only pops up at
certain times though, usually when you're not in the middle of a story arc
quest.

PS: After beating the game, do not skip the credits. You have the ability to
keep playing, but you lose it if you skip the credits.

You must also have a house to marry someone. The heart must be pink and
throbbing, or you'll waste the ring. Fake wedding rings do not work.
