Exactly what I was thinking (Case Overpriced). The only question I have for you regarding his build is if the 1155 socket is newer than the 13?? Socket from Intel?
In otherwords if he is spending that much he needs to make sure he has the brandnew socket type. It will cost more but he will cut cost on the case anyway. He should get out for a little less still yet.
Sorry but I'm still learning the new sockets. I still use an Intel LGA 775 Socket board and the PC was built for my mom. It runs great.
It is good enough for her to do anything work related in Open Office and she can still play web games with ease.
He will be fine with that socket type being it is current but If someone is spending that much I highly reccomend getting the newest socket for extending the life cycle of the PC. That way he shouldn't ever have to completly gut it and rebuild. It saves alot of money 5-6 years down the road. This build will last him along time anyway you look at it.
Okay, some update on my build, I've swapped out my cooler for a Phanteks PH-TC14PE and a 256gb crucial m4 SSD. A couple questions:
1. Do the phanteks come with the converter cable for the PWM fan support?
2. I was always confused about the airflow of the push/pull concept. Should the fans be mounted so that air is sucked in from the outside of the rear fan (I already have a NZXT Phantom case) towards in the inside of the case, or the other way around? I get confused because people call the 3rd fan thats mounted on the case the "exhaust" fan so I was assuming it's pushing air out of it which would mean that the fans are sucking air out of the rig instead of pulling air in?
3. Does anyone know the thread pitch of the M3 screw I need to mount the SSD onto the drive bay in the nzxt phantom? I'm ordering the NON-BAA version which means that it doesn't come with a bracket since I am assuming that the phantom comes with a 2.5" drive bay to screw on the SSD.
