i need help building a pc for under $900. all I Know i want for sure is the gtx 480

It's on the same level as the 7850, but it's hotter and consumes more power. I would understand if you already have one or found for really cheap.

nope. just get a gtx 670. best value. or if you are tighter in the pocket, get a 7850

the 480 is great, if you don't mind the old architecture. at the price of 210$ you can focus using the money you had saved from that and put it into a proficient case for cooling.

yes the 480 runs HOT. my friend's brother fired an egg with a tray sitting on top of the card (he had a backplate though)

what case was he using, because the difference between a 7850 and a gtx 480 is like 40$, 40$ to the case can mean alot, and this is coming from someone who owns a 7850 =X

Or if you find a GTX 560 Ti 448 for around the same price as a 7850, that's another option if you prefer nvidia. It should be equivalent in performance, if not slightly faster than the 7850.

Make sure you have plenty of juice as in a nice hefty psu for that old out dated heat producing power hog of a card. Min. of 600w.

That card has been discontinued and what you see on the shelves is what there is and all there will be.

Lol, some people aren't going to suggest it because there are other options. What is pathetic is insulting everyone just because they don't like the card.

tis why i gave the reason of blowing the 40$ savings into a better case/cooling system, which is 100% doable.
