Hello,
I finally snagged an eVGA GTX 680 SC series off newegg yesterday. It arrives Thursday. My concern is how much, if any, performance will I lose on a Q9550 that I have running at 3.5gz with 8GB ram.

I am upgrading from a GTX 285.

Solution
You shouldn't have much or a issue. may be a bottleneck but it won't be noticeable really. You should be fine. Your just lucky right now you have a 680 since right now it has become the rarest latest graphics card on the market

I coulda had one sooner but I didn want a zotac, msi Asus or gigabyte card. I only buy Evga. Newegg alerted me yesterday and I snagged one at work on my iPhone. They were sold out by the time my transaction was completed.

I've tried, extensively, but i can't hit 3.6ghz and stay stable. My temps are fine with my zalman CNPSxxxx cooler, but I think my chip's max is around 3.5.

All chips are not created equal. I just chalked it up to that mostly. I have an asus p5q pro, I'll give it another go tonight see if I can safely tweak a few more hertz out of her
