The price has officially dropped. You can get a reference model gigabyte 7970 for $479.99. Kinda makes me sad that I just bought two XFX 7970 DD for the regular price and the day after I get card number 2 delivered the price drops.

There's a Gigabyte unit now for $469.99 + DiRT 3. Also the Powercolor 7950 & 7870 for $379.99 & $329.99 respectively both with DiRT 3 are very enticing.

The prices of the 7870 weren't mentioned to be changing in the press release about the price drop but they went down anyway. I was going to gladly pay $350 for a 7870 but now for just a few bucks more I'd just get a 7950.

Hurry up with your competing products NVidia! Can't wait to see if prices get even lower when they come out.

My last Nvidia GPU was the 8800GTX but if they come out with faster for these same price points I'll probably go back to them as I like the Adaptive Vsync they recently implemented and have no need of compute performance.

I've been watching newegg everyday for a month anticipating a price drop and the MSI lightening was actually sold out before the sale started. That Powercolor was also sold out which is strange because it was the same price as the XFX 7970 DD. The stock levels cannot be correct. The XFX 7970 DD has 10 remaining in stock which is the same as it has been for a month and I bought two of them and it did not change. If you are planning on getting one, you may not want to hesitate too much.
