Skyrim major lag

I have downloaded the latest Nvidia driver (301.24) because it promissed to boost the perfromance in Skyrim by 21%.
But now I am having very long load times and around 10 fps when playing.
Can somebody help me? :( 

Before it used to run around 70 fps.
Core 2 Duo E7600 @ 3.06GHz
GTX 550Ti
4 GB RAM
Graphics card Master

You should be running driver version 296.10. The 3xx series drivers are for the GTX 6xx series only.

There is a reason you select your card before it tells you what driver to download.

the 301.10 (WHQL) is the official driver for GTX680 and currently only supporting GTX680. but nvidia release the latest beta (301.24) that support GTX680 and older geforce card.

try to re-install the driver. i suggest you to perform clean driver installation. just checked the box for clean installation from nvidia driver installer
