hi gbretana

How much were you looking to spend? It looks like your tower currently only has a 300w power supply. Thermaltake make fairly decent power supplies but I would recomment a corsair/antec/cooler master PSU over a thermaltake one.

The 6850 is pretty good but the new 7xxx GPUs look like a better buy. Also which country would you be purchasing from?

whats important is the amps on the 12+ rail on the psu and not as much the overall wattage to run cards. if its lacking, then you will have to buy a new psu+card. if its enough, a new card would be fine by itself. though I would make the jump from 6850 to 6870 since there is some significant fps increase for the smaller price difference there(between 4 - 15 fps on average depending on game and settings)

I to agree with above posts and the PSU's you should go with what was said above. Corsair, Antec,Seasonic, and XFX brands are the ones to get. You have to realize that the PSU is the most important hardwear.

With out a PSU you have nothing. It is recomended to buy a good one. Also the 6870 right now is on sale for $129.99 right now. I don't know how long it will last. Here is a link to it and Good luck to you.

Until you get to the 7850 of the new 7xxx series their isn't a performance improvement for the same price, example comparing the 6850 and 7770 performance is similar just the power draw is less for the 7770 and the 6850 is cheaper. The 6850 is a good choice but yes the 6870 is slightly better. Only difference is the 6850 can use a 430W PSU while the 6870 need a 500W PSU (only because the 6850 uses one PCI-E connector versus the two the 6870 needs)
430W- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
500W- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
6850- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
6870- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
With the rebate the 6870 can be had for the same price too so it just is a bit more to get the 500W PSU then.

actually you dont need 500w for the 6870, tom used the 430w antec ea(1 six pin and used a molex to 6 pin provided with the 6870 purchase) to power the card in the 600$ December 2011 build

Yes it is possible but it is just better to use the PCI-E connectors versus adapters, if you overclock it might not be able to power it and they are just less reliable because in come cases they are on separate power rails.
