I dont mean to be a pain in the behind, but I really need some insight on when the 7990 is being released to purchase or pre order??

I would appreciate it if someone with real knowledge about the release date answers this thread.

Thanks!

I wasn't being sarcastic. We're not psychic. A quick google would have told you all the information that we have

For the record, I love em. There are still a few hiccups but the overclocking is amazing and the crossfire scaling is very nice

@therealnapster.

no one knows. and if people did you can bet your bottom dollar it would be posted as a news article quicker than you can jizz at the thought of their release.

NDA's prohibit people blurting out facts and leaks until closer to release.

My bad folks, i dont react well to hostility..

Anyway, Pinhead - im debating to either wait for the 7990 or just push through two 7970's water cool. My current set up, Im running a six core sandy bridge, corsair dominator 16gb @ 2133, Rampage extreme mobo, TJ11 Tower (full water cool), two Intel 520 SSD's and my old 6990..

IS your current dual gpu 7970 set up, glitching? You said hickups.. Also, are two 7970 black edition gpu's better than one 7990?

Thanks

That's an almost identical setup to what I have (look at my sig). The hiccups were from the 12.2 drivers and from the fact that I'm running a converted Windows Server 2008 R2 install rather than Windows 7 (same codebase). I had a few issues with Arkham Asylum, some texture popping in Metro 2033, crashing in Rift, that's about it. All of it seems to have been resolved with 12.3 though

Your right, you have almost the same rig as mine, sweet deal.

I honestly just use mine for CS Source, BF3, a few other games, photoshop, dreamweaver, internet, and office lol the rig is an over kill but its visually appealing.

I still dont know if I should wait for the 7990 or just get two 7970's.. when do YOU THINK the 7990 or 690 will be released or announded?

Dual GPU cards will always be cheaper than buying 2 individual GPUs on their own PCB boards. Estimated 7990 is $850

I may sell off one of my 7970's and go 7990/7970 crossfire well that depends on if ill need more then 1000 watt psu to run them.$850 is steep but i dont mind paying for bragging rights lol

i would say that is debatable there are plenty of instances where the dual gpu single card was more expensive than 2 individuals, whether we are talking the 5970,6990,590 the list goes on, and under all those circumstances they had a lot of trade offs whether it be the excessive noise read any review on the 6990 with a factory hsf or if it has reduced clocks to keep noise power consumption and temperature in check (see 5970 and 590) if you want the best which this dude sounds like he does, he would be better getting muliple7970's and most people looking into such cards as 7990's usually have deep pockets so the cash isnt such an issue as the rest of use mere mortals are happy to get a model or 2 down and clock the sh!t out of it! end of the day a cf setup will run quieter and have far better overclocking results if you actually have a monitor or monitor array that will push the gpu's to even need overclocking. also i would almost put money down on the fact that you will be able to buy to 7970's for 850 by the time the 7990 is released too!
