Glazer's Camera (http://www.glazerscamera.com/) is likely to have
whatever you are looking for, though you may well pay a premium for that
selection. Otherwise, there are more consumer oriented shops like
Cameras West (owned by Ritz Cameras) and other smaller chain outfits at
local shopping malls.

If you can make it down to Dallas Oregon there is a shop there with more
Nikon than I have ever seen in one place outside of NYC.

Don't forget that there is a high sales tax in Seattle - over 9%, unless you
can get some sort of tourist rebate.

Where in NYC would you find this NIKON store? I'm going to NYC and would
love to check it out.

Check B&H. They close early Friday afternoon and don't open on
Saturday. Near Penn Station, their location and hours are provided
in their ads which appear in almost all U.S. photo magazines. It's
also on their website at www.bhphotovideo.com
Willoughby's used to be a fairly large photo store located on the
other side of Penn Station, but it's been many years since I was
there and I'm not sure that they still exist. If they do, it may be
much smaller, located who knows where, and the store is probably
nothing like it used to be. Only mentioned in case I'm mistaken.
Many others probably know for sure.

I find it hard to believe that you'll end up paying less in the US (and
in Seattle in particular) than in BC. Then again, I haven't done the
math, either.
> i wl try the Glazer in Seattle..
Glazer's is pretty nice. But if you find yourself in the University
district, you must go to Jim's Used Camera on 47th near University Ave.,
just to.... see. :-)

Good point, there is no sales tax in Oregon. Another reason to shop in
Dallas, OR

The major know town is Dalles. Did not realize until I googled that there
was a Dallas. Dalles is where the wagon trains ended.

Uh...well...I just got back from Cannon Beach/Seaside. Those are
probably taken somewhere else too. At least they don't have any sales
tax. But it's still a screwed up state - you can't pump your own gas
but you can help somebody kill themself.

I spent a very pleasant evening overlooking The Dalles.
And I had a friend whose explanation for his name was
that his mother looked at him when he was born, and
declared "Das ist Alice".

But the pumped gas is cheaper than the self serve Calif gas.

Well yes Bill we do have a city named the Dalles, but I am referring to
Dallas just West of Salem.

Wrong again bill. The wagon trains ended in Oregon City on the
Willamette by the falls.

Could you do so by pumping gas into them? Or would the state just
implode?
I do like Oregon, though - Crater Lake, all them loverly volcanic areas,
buffer zone between here and California...
When i went to Seattle, the same problem, i too searched for a good camera shop! Atlast i got a service from a photographer and he is perfect. By the way, have you heard of MiNeeds.com? It really simplifies finding affordable photographers. I used it to find them for my wedding. Essentially, after I described what I needed on this site, I received several competitive bids from local photographers. I liked the fact that I didn’t have to call around and negotiate with each, and that they actually came to me.
