Hi,
I want to fit a mic socket on the front of my pc (already fitted usb ports for accesability), I dont use the mic often but sometimes, Im sure a couple of the pins on the 2 rows of expansion pins will correspond to the mic input? (I believe these pins are used for the front panel thing??) does anyone know what pins these may be?

Those Pins are the Digital I/O pins that can connect to a Live Drive or a Digital I/O board. To my knowledge, creative has not given us a lable for which pins do what for these two products. If you want the connector on the front, along with Digital inputs, and other nice features, buy the live drive at Creative. If you want them on the back, and want to save a lot of money, buy the Hoontech DB III at Tracer. It will save you a boundle over buying from Creative.

If it works for you then don't fix it.

Damn! Creative wants 2/3 the cost of the Live! Platinum just for a Live Drive 1? Geezers Cripes! I have the Live Drive II built into my case! And the case, with motherboard and Live! Platinum 5.1 cost just a few bucks more than the Live Drive 1!

Thanks for the replies all, I dont particularly want to buy anything, I modded an old blanking plate on my tower and put 2 usb's on there (My joystick is USB but I dont always use it so having the ports on the front is handy as I can put the stick away without pulling everything out from under the desk), I planned on putting a mic socet on there, I dont really need any other connectors, my speakers are permanently (obviously) plugged in, but I sometimes use a mic- but not too often, so I would like to be able to unplug it and put it away without going round the back of the pc (I have an unbeleivable amount of cables there). I was hoping that I could find out which of the expansion pins were connected to the mic, not to worry, I'll solder a couple of wires onto the existing mic socket on the card and do it that way.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why people always seem to think that all those pins on the live are completely undocumented and kept black art by creative. They aren't! There's all sorts of info about each connector in the \Creative\SBLive2k\Help\hwinfo.hlp file. Why does everyone seem to think that these connectors are basically undocumented???
