Before I get started I would like to say that I've already purchased the majority of these items. The only things I have not yet purchased are the mobo, gpu, & an OS.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge
Mobo: ASRock Z77 Extreme 6 LGA 1155
PSU: Enermax 750W ATX 12V PSU
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 912
CPU Cooler: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM (8-8-8-24) 1.5V
ODD: SAMSUNG Internal DVD Writer Black SATA Model
SSD: Samsung 830 Series 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB IntelliPower SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
GPU: HIS IceQ X H785QN2G2M Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

I also have:

2 200mm LED fans
3 120mm fans, 2 of which have LED
1 140mm LED fan
1 80mm High performance pci slot gpu cooler fan
1 Internal 3-way fan controller

Is this a good build? I am not going to overclock anything but the most concern I have is the PSU which I plan to replace before long after building the system.

Also any tips or criticism is welcome.

Solution

750w is more than enough for a pair of 7850's. With 2 of them, your system at max load will draw around 400w.

Hi iendigma,

The build looks great!

If you are planning on replacing the PSU soon, I would suggest getting a 600 - 650W power supply at the most unless you plan on running Crossfire on your 7850.

Here is a good power supply:

SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - $86.99

Happy Building!

I was just worried that the Extreme 4 wouldn't have enough support to hold the RAM & the cpu cooler but if you guys give me the OK I'll go with the Extreme 4.

As for the PSU I plan to get another HIS 2gb gpu and crossfire it with the other one I'll already have, this is where my concern comes in with the 750W PSU.

I don't want to get an ungodly powerful PSU but I don't want to undershoot the wattage either.

Would this PSU support the addition of another gpu for crossfire?

What I meant by support was actual physical support of the mobo on the right side because reviews on new egg were saying that it didn't extend far enough to that side to be able to be mounted down with screws.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I have now ordered the Extreme 4 rather than the Extreme 6 & I'm no longer worried about the PSU.

Just need to buy the GPU next week & some AS5 & I'll be ready to build =)
