Ok so summer is coming, so i'll be getting a new gaming PC, and another one for my friend.

I wanted to know if everything is alright on my build, everything compatible, and ready to go..

My build :
CPU : Core i5-2500K 3.2 ghz (i am not going to overclock so i'll keep the stock cooler)
GPU : Gigabyte 560 1 gb ddr5
PSU : Thermaltake Litepower 600W ATX12V v2.3 & EPS12V v2.91
Motherboard : ASUS P8H61-M LX
RAM : 2x Patriot 2Go DDR3 1333
Case : Advance 8808GM
Monitor : HP 1440x900

Ok, so i wanted to know if my power supply is good for those specs, and if i will be able to run any new games on my monitor without problems.

My friend's build (tight budget)

CPU : Core i3 530 2.9 ghz
GPU : Asus 6770 1 gb ddr5
PSU : Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2
Motherboard : Some cheap intel 1056 socket
RAM : 2x patriot 2 go DDR3 1333
Case : Advance 8808GM
Monitor : 1024x700

Ok, so my friend's setup is a little bit more complicated, he wanted to use a Phenom X2 550 and unlock it to a X4 with stock cooler, but i don't think it will be better than a core i3 530? so what do you say? and will it bottleneck the 6770 on any game at 1024x700 resolution?

yes you're power supply is fine, more than enough for a gtx 560 at that resolution. As for the phenom ii x4, I would say even at stock it's a fair amount better than an i3-530, but I would suggest getting a hyper 212 cooler and OCing it a bit to get the most out of it. It wouldn't bottleneck a 5770 at all, especially not at such a low resolution. In fact, a 6770 in that situation would be a little overkill.

For your build, if you are not planning on overclocking, I would suggest downgrading to the i5-2500 or even i5-2400. Your resolution is a bit lower than current standards, but if you are set on 1440x900, I would suggest maybe downgrading your GPU to an hd 6850 or gtx 460. The 560 will still be better, but at that resolution you'll be getting a far better price performance ratio with a more modest card.

There is no use to get a K series (multiplier unlocked ) processor if you are getting the H61 Mobo because you can not overclock with anyway. So you have to choose what is it you wish to retain. If you wish to retain the i5-2500K, then get a Z68 motherboard but it will be more expensive. If you do not plan on overclocking, just get the i5-2400 to save $30.

Unlocking is a hit or miss. There is no guarantee for that. And there is no reason to really get an 1156 (not 1056 :D ) socket when you can get equally cheap 1155. It is more future proof & can be upgrade to a higher processor if needed in the future.

Also, for 1024x768 monitor, the 6770 is too much. Might as well get a 7750 & downgrade the PSU to Corsair cx430 v2 instead of the cx500 v2. This will save your friend a few bucks than can be used to buy 1155 motherboard/processor instead of the 1156 combo.

I chose that motherboard because it is the only cheap available motherboard for the 1055 socket cpus, because i live in morocco.
What would you say if he changes the i3-530 to a phenom X2 550, and unlock it, because its alot cheaper and its motherboard aswell, will he spot any differences on games?

Its not 1055 or 1056. Its 1155 & 1156. :)

With the choice of the video card (6770) and resolution, definitely not except on cpu heavy games. If he insist on the Phenom II X2 550, make sure you select a motherboard that have the unlocking features. But even then, unlocking is not certain.

I still suggest to downgrade to cx430 v2 & the 7750 if available to save a bit.
