GTX 680 vs 7970 Battlefield 3 !

You're looking at roughly 70 fps with the 680, and 64 fps with the 7970 at 1920x1200 with 4xAA. So really, there isn't much of a difference. Go with the cheaper one, or the one you fanboy more, or the one that you think looks cooler.

Personally I'd get the 680, but that's just me.

2x EVGA GTX 480 SLi. is better then 680 and 7970 to ..... 680 is now more expensive ... and i heared that 680 sli is worse then 7970 crossfire   and im not a fanboy

i have 850 corsair bronze   so i think it will be enough even for gtx 680 sli or 7970 crossfire .... they need less power then 480 you know .... so no problem with psu   but most i care about dips .... if 7970 has better minimum fps i will pick it for sure   + it's 50-70$ cheaper

corsair 850 bronze won't handle 680 sli very well.

because bronze ? or because 850 wat only ?  ) will it hande 7970 in cf ? don't forget .. i will not overclock gpu or cpu

gtx 680 = 190w tdp and you have a 850w psu, am i missing somthing here ? but that should run fine whats your amps on the 12v rail ?

No hes wrong, a 850 watt will perfectly handle GTX 680 two way.... IDK where he heard that, But NVIDIA stated at launch when everyone was asking how much PSU would it take to have two 680s and NVIDIA said a good 750 watt power supply will work.

yeah i got same info ...if don't oc 750 si great i think ....   so why there will be problem with 850 ?

so what about 7970 vs 680 at current price points ? 7970 is 70$ cheaper now .... or just wait for may when 680 s will be restocked and bakc to 500$ ? or it will not happen soon  )

Geforce GTX 680 (195 Watts) uses less power than Radeon HD 7970 (250 Watts), so if you are considering power Consumption (Max TDP), then get the Nvidia card.

However the HD 7970 (264000 MB/sec) might be a faster than the GTX 680 (192256 MB/sec).

On the other hand the the GTX 680 should be a bit better if you are considering features like AF and FSAA.

Yea, if you want to you can wait for the rest of Kepler to come out and 680 SKU's should re-populate the market and stay steady in stores. I am waiting for the cheaper but similar performance GTX 670/670 ti's to come out

if 670 t will have same perfomance as 7970 and cheaper ... i will go for it   i think 2gb vram will be enough for me at 1920x1080 ....

Nivida would shoot himself in the foot release the 670t beeing so close to its 680gtx performance. But yeah 2G is enough for a 1080p resolution.

As of now 680gtx ins't even available anymore and the hd7970 beeing priced at 480$ + 3 free game the choice is hard to make.

And are you planing to buy that CPU or you already own it ?

i have i7 950 already ... its older cpu i know .. but its still strong enough i think to handle full potencial of any single gpu i think   but if have to build now new pc .. sure i will buy sandy bringe cpus or even wait for ivy ...  

yeah 670Ti will be to close with 680 u think .. with his specifications ....

And the 7970 is 480-510$ with free games (1 to 3 games from Dirt3, deus Ex and BF3).

So its a hard choice if you want any of these games IMO. Also many don't feel like waiting for the Nvidia re-stock. Myself I won't wait that much once the ivy-bridge will be released :-)

Well might have to be stuck with the Radeon 7970 considering how hard its getting a GTX 680 now.

BF3 favors the GTX 680 by quite a bit. The 680 also comes with driver innovations that make for a smoother gaming experience. You shouldn't only focus on pure FPS, or saving $20. If you take a look at the drivers and overall gaming experience, the GTX 680 (if you can find one) is easily the way to go.

Even the top of the line factory overclocked MSI 7970 Lightning can't keep up with the reference GTX 680 in BF3. In fact, the 7970 barely beats a $380 GTX 580:

If your going to crossfire 2x 7950's would be better over 2 7970's imo.7950's overclocked are quite alot faster then 2 7970's stock and its $200 cheaper for 2 cards.If money doesnt matter then 2 gtx 680's or 7970's would be good to

1) overclock the HD7970 to 1010 in clock speed and the bold things, tells you which card is better... tell me what you see... i would realy like to see your opinion....
