Hey,

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with the G37N motherboard (according to CPUID) and it has the Intel 2 Duo T6600 2.2Ghz dual core CPU that is a PGA-478 socket.

However i want to swap out this CPU for a faster one for a bit more grunt.. I found an SL7PM Intel Pentium 4 3.3Ghz with the same socket type.

Is this possible? Can i put this cpu in my dell?

Cheers :)

Installing the P4 will be a massive downgrade, even though the 2D has a slower clock speed, it will outperform the P4 on basically everything.

Other post within TH say that the GM45 chipset with BIOS version A14, you can fit a Dual Core + HT T9550 2.66ghz, 6MB Cache, 1066 FSB.
