Hi I recently got both of these cards for 145$ total. i have a Visiontek Radeon HD 6870 25$ used for 6 months. and a Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 120$ new. anyways I have a Corsair Cx430 V2 and I was wondering which card I should run on that PSU both are obviously available. My resolution I will be gaming at is 2048x1536 or just 1080P haven't decided yet. it s a huge increase though. so which video card? it would benefit me more to sell the 6870. and can my rig even run the 6870?

The cx430v2 is plenty for either of the cards, however the 6870 is a much faster card than the 6850!

so for sure keep the 6870 and sell the 6850 even though visontek is sort of a bad video card brand? and thank you for awnseriing my quiestion :)

Visiontek is perfectly fine, it would be better to sell the 6850 and keep the 6870!

thats what I was planning to do :p  just needed a reassurance because wasn't sure my cx430 V2 could handle the 6870. I'll be running it with a AMD Phenom II x4 965 on a Asus M4A87Td Evo. with a sentry 2 touch fan controller 6 case fans and 2 CPU fans. All so hard drive is 250gb segaate abrracuda 7200.11

You're going to need something much more powerful than both of those cards to run 2048x1536. I'd take a look at the Radeon HD 7870, but you're also going to need a new PSU (you really should have something better for the 6870 too).

From the AMD 6870 System requirements,
"500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for AMD CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)"

He's not trying to run both cards at the same time.
Plus, the 6870 does not need that amount of power. It can easily be run from a quality 400w psu, or in this case the corsair cx430wv2.

Not really required.

The Corsair CX430 V2 should handle a HD 6870 without a problem.

at stock speed, tdp of
phenom 2 x4 965 = 125w
hd6870 = 150 w
10xfans 25-80w
total 150+125+25upto80=300upto355w for almost full system

Cx430V2 have 336w of max capacity at 12v, and 120w max at 3.3v.

so you are at the edge, but you can run them at stock

So when I get the Visiontek HD 6870 tommorow I will compare and see which one is better. But I really need help because I know my PSU can support both cards but.... I really don't know If I'll be gaming a whole lot. Si will the extra memory and "fastness" of the 6870 be worth it to em or should I just sell it? Idk If I'll be running games like Crysis 2 but I might :p  so which one should I keep and which one should I sell.

Alright so the 6870 despite all the bad reviews for the visontek one?? And I know it will be faster but how much faster and is it worth it???I have both cards remeber. And obviously the higher end one is the one to go... But I'm not so sure... it's used and the sapphire is not...and the sapphire is quieter and well looks nicer. not that looks matter. but I think I will just keep the 6850 and sell the 6870

just stick with the 6870. I know its tempting to choose t he more aesthetic card, but trust me i had a 6870 and with a tiny OC i could play pretty much any game out there maxxed out including the first crysis (although it did drop badly at some points but mostly i could max it)

Both are great cards i just dont see the point in going for the worse card. At the end of the day the cards are very similar no matter who the manufacturer. At the end of the day visiontech is a high tech producer of graphic cards, they need to produce good cards like everyone else to stay afloat, so be assured.
