Multiple Monitors SLI or Single GPU

Hi Guys,

This is my first time posting on this forum so I apologize if this has been answered before. I did not explicitly find an answer in the FAQ which is why I'm asking. I typically play MMOs, Eve Online, Tera Online, SWTOR, WoW, but I also play BF3, MW3, and all the games inbetween. I used to have GTX 470 which could handle all these games no problem with 1 monitor. Once I bought a second monitor it immediately became apparently that my 470GTX couldn't handle 1 game running while running the 2nd monitor on the desktop. I like to have the second monitor for chatting, surfing the web, etc while I'm playing MMOs.

My question is this: Since I'm running multiple monitors, is it better two medium/medium-high range cards in SLI/Crossfire, or is it better to have 1 high end GPU.

This question relates explicitly to 1 GTX680 or 2 XXX.

Thank you in advance!

Well for price, it would be better to sli the 470 which is roughly a 560ti sli setup. If you are willing to wait a little longer, you can always try overclocking your 470!

I actually sold my GTX470 and I'm waiting for a GTX 680, but I'm just wondering if I'd have better performance with 2 lower end GPUs instead of 1 because I run 2 monitors, not 1.
