my system is 3 1/2 years old.
asus p5q pro
q9550
radeon 4870x2

at xmas i was playing skyrim full screen no problem.
in march i found that ALL my games crashed in full screen mode yet all those i could start windowed would work while in window mode.

i updated bios, chipset and graphic drivers, but games would still crash full screen.

i was runnign xp home so did a clean install of win 7 x64, installed graphics drivers and only 1 game - guild wars.

same thing, game works in window mode but as soon as you full screen it crashes and pc locks up.

i searched google and found lots of other people with exactly the same problem but no solutions that work.

what else can i do ? is it a graphic card problem or maybe a power supply issue ?

also no ive never overclocked anything.

ok i thought crossfire ment having 2 4870x2 's

on the Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart my card is on teir 4 so is already a pretty good card, its on the same level as the gtx 570

i read a few years ago you should try and jump 2 or 3 tiers when you upgrade a card so if thats still true id be looking at the gtx 680
