Hello, everyone. I've decided to give it a try and put together my very first machine this summer but I'm not sure what video card to go for. I'll be using it for games and multimedia. These are the other parts I'm considering.
The two were roughly tied (495 to 484) but when put in pairs, the factory OC'd 560 Ti had a 100+ fps lead .... 862 to 759 fps over the factory OC'd 6950. The 560 Ti had substantially better cost per frame in both cases.
There are 5 games in common between the 2011 and 2012 suites .... in these:
The factory OC'd 7850 scored 383 fps ($0.70 per frame) to the factory OC'd 560's 372 fps ($0.56 per frame).
I have see 30% OC's on the 560 Ti .... best I have seen so far is 22% on the 7850 but I expect that will go up a bit as newer no reference designs come out.
Moving up in price I just don't see the value in any other cards between $200 and $300
If ya wanna see what most other gamers, well at least Steam gamers, are choosing check out the Steam Hardware Survey which measures what hits their servers. Here's the top 10 DX11 GPU's in use at this time during the month of March:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 - 10.36%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 - 6.86%
ATI Radeon HD 5770 - 5.96%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 - 3.96%
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 - 3.90%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 - 3.80%
ATI Radeon HD 6870 - 3.74%
ATI Radeon HD 6850 - 3.47%
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M - 3.27%
ATI Radeon HD 6950 - 3.27%
Personally, I'm waiting for the non reference designs we'll see from both camps ..... I expect by early June. I'm thinking the 7850 and 660 Ti non reference designs will be at the top of Steam's charts 6 months from now.
