According to PC Pitstop, my C: drive is not performing properly it is running to slow. I have a 10Gig hard drive partitioned from the mfg: C: 2GB and D: 8GB. D is running fine. I have run defrag and checked with mfg who helped me determine hard drive was fine. I recently upgraded ram to total of 160MB, but also notice resources are always low, but I think that is due to Quickbooks running in background for our business. Micron told me to re-format C: drive and start over, but I don't really want to do that. Any explanations for suggestions? Thanks.

<--- has no idea what operating system you are using.

have u checked that you have the correct IDE bs master drivers?
also, is DMA mode enabled?
is the drive properly recognised upon bootup as a UDMA-x (x=3, 4 or 5)?

I'm assuming the 2GB partition is for OS.
How much of it has been used?

Sorry I didn't give enough info. I have a 450 mghz system, pentium II processor. Yes, the 2 GB is for Dos it is 65% full. I took another look at PCpitstop, and they suggested I tweak something to try it. So I turned off the graphics acclerator, re-ran the test, and it is now performing fine. I will try that out for awhile. They said there are too many things running in the background and its slowing it down. We run a small business and QBPro really takes up alot of space because of the amount of inventory we have. How much RAM should I have to accomodate our needs? I thought when I upgraded to 160MB that would be enough. Thanks for all your suggestions.

256MB of RAM should be adequate, but if possible get Partition Magic and resise the partition to 3GB. I always like a GB free to accomodate unforseen stuff. The swapfile has as much room as it needs then. If you go "MSconfig" in the system tools, click on the start-up tab and it will show you programs that are initialised on start-up. Systray, Rundll, Rnaapp, and explorer should be left running, but depending on what software you have you may be able to de-select others. Just try one, see what happens and if you want re-select it. Remember to run disk cleanup and defrag regularly.
