Weird Computer Thing?

So. I have this weird thing that happens. Whenever I put games on like the lowest settings, they run really slow. But when they're on the highest settings they run really good. This isn't an issue at all, I was just wondering what causes this, because it's really odd.


Specs:

AMD Radeon HD 5570
Intel(R)Core i5-2500 quad core.
6 gb of ram.
Pretty much it.

I think the game is changing the Resolution of it everytime you turn on the Highest settings you should be gaming at 1200x800 or something. and When you get lower settings you chooce your Native Resolution that should be 1600x1200 or 1080p
