Hi folks,I'm new and wish to build a gaming rig. I'm now looking at 19" lcd monitors on Newegg and the best they support is 1440X900. I see high end gpus go beyond that...so... what kind of monitor should I be looking for?

Thanks

1920x 1080 resolution for the size. both D-sub, for an older graphics card, and DVI.
and a decent viewing angle. not the best but inexpensive.

AS AN EXAMPLE ONLY:
Acer V213HLBJbd Black 21.5" 5ms Widescreen LED $123.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009365

Resolution 1920 x 1080
Connectors D-Sub, DVI
Viewing Angle 170°(H) / 160°(V)

there is much better. but i look at price after a 1080 resolution. lot of folks may insist on a low response time, like no more than 5ms and get all anal about contrast. that plays into high end graphic cards.

Go for 2ms or 3ms. I game on a 5ms 1440x900 monitor because I'm poor. My eyes are pretty good and I will be the first to tell you the ghosting, albeit little, is there in fast-paced sequences. 1920x1200 is my favorite resolution, but finding a low response time monitor at that resolution for a good price would be HARD.

I've gamed on 22, 23, and 27" monitors and liked the 23" best. It was still spacious and I didn't have to turn my head a lot like I did with the 27". Anything below 22" I can't stand, even if I'm gaming on one now (too broke to replace it).

Just, that I remember an old friend telling me a while ago to look for a fast refresh rate or a fast response time.

This is the Gpu I'm considering:

XFX Double D HD-695X-CDFC Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP

I'm havin some fun figuring out what I want in my system right now and learning lots along the the way

My budget is $1500 Cad, so I figure i should be able to make quite a decent rig, lol but the options OMG the options!!!

Thanks for the replies people, I'll be sticking around this site for long time, lots of knowledge.
