New card ideas

I am thinking about getting a new graphics card and am leaning toward the MSI 7870

or i was maybe thinking about switching to nvidia and going 580 or wait for a new 670 later in the year..

i run a XFX 6850 now and would rather have something that could give me a greater performance for the new Arma 3 release.

i mainly play Arma BF and Skyrim.

im also worried about the length oc the card fitting in my Antec 300 illusion case although i read that an 11" card can fit, the 7870 is 10.6 so i assume ill be good with that card.

any advice or suggestions?

Get a GTX 680 or wait the GTX 670.

The 7870 is only marginally (10%) faster than a 6870, which is very similar to your 6850 in performance.

i was thinking the 680 but they are $499 and i didnt really want to spend over $450.
i was leaning for the 7870 mainly because of the price being so low $369
EVGA 580s run $429

any idea what a 670 will run or even if price drops will happen?
i wasnt really looking to buy soon.. more around the time of the Q3/4 of this year

Price drops are sure to happen between now and then. You could go with a 580 as it would still be an improvement, but you can only drive two monitors without an active DP adapter whereas the 680 can drive three natively. As far as what the 670's will cost, I expect them to be around the same price as the 580's.

I would wait for the 670 to come out and wait even a couple of weeks to a month to see how the performance is on the card. If you are willing to spend nearly $450 to $500, I would look into the Radeon 7970 that just came out, it is the fastest single GPU out today, costing around $550.

The 670 should be about $350-$399 and compete with the 7950 and GTX 580.

ill probably pick from the MSI 7950 Twin Frozr and a 670 Ti when they come out..

maybe the MSI 7870 Twin Frozr if i dont want to spend that much.
