does anyone know of some way to protecting files on
a cd-r (other than excrypting them)in such a way that nobody can access them by just placing the cd in the drive & instead has to follow some sort of a routine like say start some prog that'll let u access them. though not by encrypting each file on the cdr but simply just using some other method without having to unencrypt them first.
Well, you can probably burn them UDF. Another possibility is to burn two sessions, and put your files on session two. Most drives will only detect session one, unless you have a little program that specifies which session to read.
It's not really 'secure'. It's like tying some really big ass knot, and someone has to sit there and pick it apart before they can open the door. It's going to be done, but it might give you the 20 seconds needed to flip off the circuit breaker before your mother finds your hidden 'stash-o-porn'.
place the target files on your harddrive .. go into properties on each of the files and change to hidden. In explorer make sure that in View, the option to NOT show hidden files is enabled.
To view them renable the ability to see hidden files in explorer
You could also zip em up with winzip and require a password to unzip\view them
on the other hand just hide the porno cd's under your mattress lol
