GTX 680 Scaling on Sabertooth Z77

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Hello, i'm building a new computer.
I already got most of my parts, just waiting for Ivy Bridge now..

This will be my specs:

Intel Core i7 3770K
Corsair H100
G.Skill 16GB 2133 Mhz
Asus Sabertooth Z77
120GB Mushkin Chronos Deluxe
1050W XFX Black edition
Palit Jetstream GTX 680

I still have enough money for a second GTX 680, but will the scaling be good enough, and won't it stutter or something on this setup..

oh, and i don't give a fck about "Overkill" !! :p

Forgive me if I missed it, but what is your monitor setup? As eluded above, a 120hz monitor might be one reason for SLI, or 2D surround, but it would be overkill for 1080p at 60hz in all but maybe a couple games, and even they will run well on a single 680.

This is with 2 580's

3DMark Vantage

Striker II extreme
2 GTX 580 Q9450 4GB memory 3.6GHz
P31497
GPU 28241
CPU 48144

Sabertooth X58
2 GTX 580 i7-950 6GB Memory 4.0GHz
P44583
GPU 40583
CPU 64506

Sabertooth X79
2 GTX 580 i7-3930K 32GB Memory 4.55GHz

Wouldn't it be marvelous to feel the SLI power on Crysis 3 & metro Last Night in the next year?

I have my doubts Crysis 3 will be super demanding. Crysis 2 is not. I play that with the DX11 patch and textures, maxed out in 3D vision on a single 680 at 60 FPS (max FPS in 3D).

Metro may be different. What I'm getting at is with 1080 @ 60hz, the 2nd card will rarely matter, but if he's using 3 monitors, 1440p resolution, 3D vision, or 120hz, then the 2nd one will definitely see use. That was the question he posed. The 2nd card only scales well if the monitor setup pushes it.

how does the cpu stat double from a meer .95 ghz increase? o0

I had to chance my order because somehow it wasn't on stock anymore....... I already have the Gainward Phantom GTX680 4GB now.... Planning on buying a next on within 2 weeks..

And I'm going to watch my temps and make sure the airflow is good.. I'm not just going to let them "Kaboooooom" lol... Besides, Z77 has 3 slots space between the cards.. enough to get some good airflows i guess...

The Sabertooth Z77 is great , just finished building mine with it and got to say it flys , you wont have any issues with yours , and the spacing of the graphics card slots are really good , Im really happy with mine. The scaling with two cards is very good , you wont see any drawbacks.

the gtx680 actually uses less power and produces less heat than one might expect. you could sli 2 of them without much worry

True Story
Got mine OC'd pretty nice and its Idle temp is 32Celcius. I love it, so much of an improvement from my old 570. Except mine is the EVGA 680 ; not sure I would use anything except EVGA at the moment
