CPU&Mobo, need help fast Tags: Power Supplies CPUs Motherboards Power Components Astronauto October 22, 2012 11:30:46 PM So, I'm looking at new motherboards and stuff to upgrade, since my motherboard is old. I am looking at one currently, it says it has "1 x 8-pin ATX 12V power connector". ALTHOUGH, my current motherboard has "1 x 4-pin ATX 12V power connector". My PSU only has a 4-pin power connector, which is powering my cpu right now. Is it safe/okay to put my 4-pin into the 8-pin connector, and have 4 free pins? Or should I not do that? The wattage on my CPU is 95W, and the wattage on my PSU is a 650W PSU. **ALSO** - I have an AM3 CPU, the mobo I'm looking at is AM3+ - I can use my AM3 processor for sure on the AM3+ mobo, right? The mobo says it supports Phenom II / Athlon II, which is what my CPU is. THANK YOU More about : cpu mobo fast Can't find your answer ? Ask !
