The 580 is better unless you're running huge resolutions. However, the AMD 7950 is 400$ and is the best value at this time.

Allright, well at 1080, the 580 is the best from nVidia right now.

Is there MUCH diff between the 3gb one and the 1.5gb one? its like 50 diff And if i do get a gtx 580 3gb i can add 20 more to get a 680 which i think its better but out-stock EVERYWHERE.

The GTX580 is a great card but with newer, faster models coming out from Nvidia just around the corner I would suggest waiting(probably a week or two).

At 1080p with a single monitor their isn't any difference between a 3GB and a 1.5GB card.

No point in higher vRAM unless you're running 5760x1080. I would suggest the 680, but as you said, out of stock everywhere, and will be for a while.

If you are running larger monitors and higher resolutions there's a big difference. If you aren't then the only difference is the price.

SLI has to be the same card. CF has to be same series. Such as 7950 and 7970, however the 7970 will clock down to essentially the 7950.

Overclocking can be done with with MSI afterburner or EVGA precision I believe.

How long do u think a 2xSLI 570 or 580 will last? And do u think a single 580 can run BF 3 on ultra with 60FPS/ no lagg watsoever? Oh lastly how much inprovement will 2x SLI make just a little or decent(like 20 FPS)?

It all depends on the user.If the user can stand playing at 30fps then a setup like that may last 5 years.

No, a GTX580 on Ultra cannot do 60fps.

It all depends on how optimized the game is for SLI.It could be anywhere from 20% to 80%.

What are your system specs?(CPU,RAM,etc.)

I would guess in a multiplayer map that you would get somewhere between 60-80fps with a GTX580 SLI and with a powerful CPU.

haven't build one yet im about to build a i7 3820( is it overclockable?? since it has no K at the end?)
corsair 16gb ram 1600
corsair AX 850
saberbooth X 79 ASUS
a intel 520 120g SSD

Technically it is, you can overclock it via the FSB, but you won't get near the results of a multiplier unlocked processor.

Not to my knowledge. But the 3820 should be fine. But having the possiblity to O.C. it will make it more futureproof so you may want to look into getting the 3930k or a 1155 processor.
