Here is one way ...

Install this program on the second computer that has the the working copy of WinME. Afterwards, under the Information tab, you should be able to see the Product Key.

It's either this, or you'll need to start the computer with a boot floppy, go to DOS, and do some editing to the System.dat file, which is even more "fun" than working in the Registry!

Not exactly, CALV. That's a common fallacy. That's the Product ID number, not the Product Key.

There is a way to generate the Product Key number from the Product ID, but it has to be done from DOS and is fairly complicated, and so I thought providing a small program was a better solution to the problem, considering the experience of the user.

See ya ...

I dont know about ME but in win98 the product key is just underneath the product ID in the previously mentioned registry string.

You're both right ... my bad. I fired up a system with Win98SE, and there it was. I stand corrected. I must have Win2K on the brain.

Thanks ...
