I've been looking at upgrading my inspiron 530(350w psu) to a 650 without uping the psu
I've heard that the 640 gt needs only a 350w psu and that a 650 needs a 400w
but based on the link below the 650 only uses 1 more watt then the 640

I neeed help from a PRO not a n00b since i got this computer for 1000$ and don't want to have to replace it because of a burn out

Hi,

Don't worry about burning up the computer for an under watt, the worse that will happen is blue screen and shutdown.

If you don't overclock or anything 400-450 w would do the trick no problem just be sure to get a good psu.

For my part I would get a 500 w psu because their are good cheap one on the market right now.
Plus you can transfer it to a more energy consumer later on.

For the brand I recommend Corsair, OCZ or antec.
