WTF! GTA IV only 30fps GTX 680!!! ERRRR

I have an i5 2550k @3.4GHz, 8GB ram, GTX 680 SC'ed EVGA and GTA IV only runs at 30-50fps at max. WHY! This game should be 100fps always as it is pretty old... please assist me, I know GTA IV is a shity console port but come on, the world best GPU can handle it...

EDIT: I HAVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO OVERCLOCK MY I5 2550K @ 4.1GHz. MORE NEEDED?

More about 30fps errrr
  1. Shitty console port will always be a shitty console port.

As it is a console port have you tried a higher CPU over clock?
  2. You definately want to overclock that 2550K more to get better results than that.
  3. did you update you game? there a patch which fixes the performance issues. Make sure you have the latest patch applied. Because with my 2 560gtx TI'S i get about 50-60 fps on max settings cept for viewing distance

Sorry to say this mate but the Radeon 6990 4 gig cards are way better than the GTX 680, but the GTX 680 is still an amazing card.
  5. So you don't have the worlds best card :P
  6. What is your monitor's refresh rate, and is the game sync'd to it?

Oh really?Better yes way better no.The gtx 680 actually beats and keeps close to the 6990 in alot of benchmarks http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/515?vs=555

Oh sorry... I thought it was way better but it is still a better card overall he said his card was the best in the world lol.

well it is the fastest single gpu card in the world.

You beat me too it, I don't count dual GPU's as they are in a genre of there own.
  11. I HAVE BEEN OVERCLOCKING MY CPU TO 3.4GHz since the start....
  12. @zazally
Sorry to say it but your wrong.

ttg_avenged said he has the "world’s best GPU" which is technically correct although it’s not the world’s fastest Graphics Card.

GPU describes the graphics processing unit of a graphics card and as the 6990 has 2x 6970 GPU's so when you compare GPU to GPU the 680 is worlds faster.

its a technicality but your still wrong :p

    3.4 isnt an overclock........its a tease.
  14. Ya, I have the Asus GTX 680 OC'd and my Core i7 930 OC'd at 4.2GHz with hyper threading (for 4 physical, and 4 virtual cores), and I still get around 50-60fps (without VSync). My thought is, that the game doesn't play well with the new features added to the GTX 680, such as the TXAA, and the new texture render engine in the new drivers. From what I read before, I must agree, shitty console port is definitely shitty.
  15. I think this is the problem:

I discover something about the GTX 680 (30 fps stuck and frame stuttering problem)... First I thought that it was the overclock but NO... There is a place on crysis 2 that when I jump to the sewer the fps stucks at 30 fps...
    And do not change until:

    1) I minimize and maximize the game, then the sewer goes up from 30 to 60fps.
    2) Get out of there... And when I back again.
    3) Just turn adaptive v-sync on or off.

So... It seams a kepler issue...

I can show you guys what happens on video... http://youtu.be/CUgtni4CDrk

    (uploading right now)

It needs to be shown for the NVIDIA guys who is thing its kepler is perfect...

I and a lot of guys found this same bug on battlefield 3, farcry 2/3, crysis 1/2, etc...
Its a bug when using vsync ON... EVEN without overclock... I test too cards from EVGAmine own OC SG Edition and the reference card from EVGA. I test with and without overclocks... With and without Precision X and get the same problem in this place on Crysis 2... And others places in battlefield 3 etc... But in this place on Crysis 2 its too obivious!!!

And what is sad is that my old gtx 280 runs perfectly in this same place and all other games...
