I have noticed that on the status and badges page, it says for opening a questions thread, you get 15 points and for replying to a thread you get 4 points. But when you actually do that, you seem to get double points for it eg. 30 and 8 points.

More about : double points

I'm not sure if we changed that or not. Let's see here.

Edit: You're right- it gave me 8 points for that post. A glitch?

Hey Kevin! :)

Glad to see you are OK!

We were concerned about you and trying to contact you before I left as a moderator, I am glad to see you back!

I hope all is well with you and your family!

I thought points were out when new platform launches, not being doubled.

Hey Ry! All is well, but I was busy with work and needed a bit of a break. Hope all is well in your world!

Liquidation prices on posts in the old system. Buy one, get one free! Everything must go!

Hmm - would have been nice to get to 50,000 and shrug off this ridiculous "Addict" tag in favour of something slightly more meaningful and complimentary.

Nah, just a mistake on the status & badges page :D .

Also another question, is there any activity that when processed, it causes you to lose points?

Yes, but to the best of my knowledge it can only occur due to moderator actions. The one possible exception is deleting your own post/thread (via the full edit page), but I have not tested to see if that has any impact.

I have tested that, but it has no impact.

In that case you cannot directly reduce your points. We would be required to delete your posts or ban you for that to happen, and we won't be needing to do that will we? :)

As randomizer mentions, only mods end up taking a hit when it comes to points, and that's due to removal of automatically generated notification messages when a thread is locked, title changed, moved or unlocked.

Yeah, it does make you look like you're "addicted" to the forums. In other words, done too much on it already...
