I have an acer 12x cdrw on a 500mhz 320 ram & ez cd creator on a compaq sys w/win98. For some reason i am getting alot of cd errors... At times i have to change the advanced settings ie. for data i put disc at once and on audio i put leave session open and close it afterwards.. this seems to make the cd's fine but at times maybe 2 or 3 out of 10 it comes out with errors. i heard that if i uncheck dma on the writer that it might cure this problem and then when i try to make an audio cd, i wasted 5 cd's because of errors. so i put dma back and still at times it comes out with errors. if i lower the write speed, say 8x... it seems to work, but i never had this problem before on my hp 4x writer. i never had to change the advanced settings when making an audio or data cd. also, before i installed clonecd, it worked perfectly at max write speed... when clone went in, problems and error cd's popped up. i uninstalled clonecd and still got problems writing.. Any feedback on what settings i can do or any comp changes i can make would be greatly appreciated.

- Does that drive support buffer underrun protection ? ( if so do you have it enabled ? )
If not:
- DMA disabling slows down the data transfer, do not do that
- leave your computer alone while burning.

When burning audio cd's, the pc has to pump more data through the IDE bus as when burning data.
