Will 1gz of ram make my computer run better

i have 512mb on desktop and i want to put 1gz in it will this make my computer run faster i have had this computer i got it in 2005 it really is a very good computer

Adding RAM will help your computer's ability to multitask ( open more windows at once, run several programs at once ect. ) it will not make your computer faster. Any computer that was new in 2005 is hopelessly outdated by today's standards. Personally I would just save money for a full upgrade.
