Hi all I am just looking for some advice I have built a budget pc that im slowly upgrading. My next big move is upgrading the PSU from 500w to something in the 1000w(ish) category. Could someone recommend something that cost around about £100 to £120 max but it has to be a decent make. My pc specs if important are:

Asrock 990fx extreme 3 motherboard
Sapphire HD 6750 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 Black Edition 3.60Ghz (Socket AM3+) Processor
Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz (Adding another 4gb stick)
320gb hdd and 250 hdd
Coolermaster Elite 500W Power Supply

Any advice will be appreciated :)

My friend, that PSU is way overkill. If that is the current system then you donot even need anything more than 600W. I would put the extra money into a better GFX card

Seasonic 1000w not in his budget

Yh I am considering it but i thought that if i wanted better parts like that I would need a better psu as my psu only has one pci-e plug but better graphics card have 2 pci-e plugs as for the wattage 1000w does seem to much now i think of it. But i do still need 2 pci-e plug on my psu :(

I have bought the Corsair CX600 which was 600W for around £60, it came with 2 Pci-e plugs. Which included 2 extra pins for each plug so if I had a graphics card which needed 2x 8pins instead of 2x 6pins it would be available.

What kind of graphics card are you looking for

Something like a 2gb Nvidia model. The pc i built for someone i live with has a ASUS GeForce GTX 660TI Direct CU II DC2O 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. Only problem that cost £250. The one i have only cost £66 as i was on a tight budget :( with this build.

*1gb to 2gb nvidia card i mean. The one i got now handles quite well but having tried to play dishonored with it i was greeted by a blank screen due to my graphic cards lack of support for this game.

Video Card
Minimum: DirectX 9 compatible with 512 MB video RAM or better (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 5850)
You Have: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series (Where mine failed according to Systems requirement lab.)

I would go with an AMD card seeing as you already have an AMD CPU. What you're looking for is something around the Radeon 6850 or 6870 which are around £100-120
That will run dishonored fine at whatever resolution.

But those cards require 2x6 pin connectors so I would look for a decent PSU, maybe something similar to mine, a CX600 or so. They're around £50-60

In total costing you about £180

Yeah good idea I have found the Radeon 6850 starting from £93 upwards and have found the CX600 for about £57 online. Are the cable a decent length as my case which is a Coolermaster Elite 430 hasnt really got much in terms of cable management and my current PSU'S cables are not long enough to go under hdd frame and around so my cables are a mess :O

Thats a pretty big-ass case you got there, however I dont think length will be an issue, especially since your PSU will be on the bottom, reaching the gpu card and hard drive bays easily. Don't worry my case is tiny as f*** and my wires are just all over the place, if you saw, you would cry..

Lol it is quite big but due to its lack of cable management all the cables are a mess i have made them look good but cant hide any of them. I got 4 120mm fans and a Coolermaster Hyper TX3 EVO cooler and tonnes of cables plus a fan control (I know probably dont need all those fans XD). I take it you have a Mini ATX case then. The other pc I built had a huge monster sized Coolermaster HAF X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119225&name=Computer-Cases

The HAF would be my ideal case, but due to reality and price being an issue, I went with the CiT Vantage Midi Mesh case.

Which came with 4 fans which are pretty slow and worthless. lol

Might upgrade the fans on it, unsure yet.
