Well, im in the middle of getting new components & building a pc, was going to save money for now and use my old Video card, but today (as i wait to buy a 3rd gen cpu) my fan on cpu starting making noise. So now im looking into video cards. I game so no i dont wanna use the cpu vid card. B4 i decided id stick with my old card i was looking at PCI 2.0 either gtx 550 or gtx 560 (i was also looking at amd cpu and board at that time). but now since im going with intels gen 3 that supports PCI 3.0 and a board that supports PCI 3.0, my question is how good are the PCI 3.0 video cards out there same $110-$160 price range compared to the PCI 2.0 550 or 560 video cards??? You can link me your suggestions as well....

btw. i did read that pci 3.0 is double the bandwidth than 2.0 so in that regards id assume PCI 3.0 card for same price as PCI 2.0 cards would be a no brainer upgrade, but im not sure common since prevails here.

NOT SO FAST. as im writing this message my card just shut the hell up, lmao. maybe im good for a few weeks or just a hour. Still want incite tho, cuz i will be upgrading card, thanks guys

Even the top of the line cards out today cannot use all the bandwidth PCI-e 2.0 has, much less PCI-e 3.0, so I wouldn't worry about that. At this point, it's a marketing gimmick rather than a true performance gain. As far as I know, there are no PCIe 3.0 cards in that price range, but as I said, you don't need PCI-e 3.0. How big of a power supply do you have, or are you looking at?

As far as Pci-e 3.0 goes you have to have three components to get it to work.
1 A motherboard that supports it and has a Pci-e 3.0 slot.
2. A video card that is Pci-e 3.0 ready , AMD 7000 Models and Nvidia 600 models.
3. A cpu that supports the Pci-e 3.0 , Ivy Bridge is currently the only processor.

If you stay with Pci-e 2.1 cards then the 560 or 560Ti would be good cards to get.

The next gen PCIe 3.0 cards like the Radeon HD 7xxx series, doesn't seem to really use it to the extent to which it was made.
Also, we're only starting to use the max capacity of PCIe 2.0, so there isn't really much of a difference if you go for either a PCIe 2.0 or a 3.0.

What's the model/make of that 600W PSU?

If you were going with the Pci-e 3.0 setup there are some cards in your price range.

thank you guys. since pci 3.0 isnt really a upgrade as 2 people stated, i think i will go with the 550 or 560 since they are so well known for bang for the buck with great feedback.
