I have 2 machines, an athlon and a P3. I am using the D-Link DI-714 router here in my dorm room to share the net connection between the two machines. The P3 is in a crate, and has no monitor, keyboard or mouse connected to it. I rely on controlling it with pcAnywhere. My problem is that the P3 cannot ping the Athlon, anc vice versa. It can ping a win98 machine, and the win98 machine can ping both of them no problem. I have set the win2k Athon and P3 machines to 192.168.0.x IP address, 255.255.255.0 netmasks, and 192.168.0.1 gateway. That didn't work. I then let my router's DHCP server do all the work. Still no luck. I have tried my Linksys 8 port 10/100 switch. Same thing, doesn't work. I have tried 3 different network cards in each machine, still no luck. I have run out of things to try! What else can I do? Any ideas on how to make these work? I'm going crazy..

use this IP scheme:

192.168.1.1 should be your router's internal addy.
192.168.1.101 first computer
192.168.1.102 second computer
subnet masks to 255.255.255.0

Those 0's in your third octed might be your problem.
