XFX 5870 Screen shudder at 2560x1440

Hi, have a 7970 which ive just had to RMA as it was reaching 98c in game!!!

Have put back in my old XFX 5870 and i can select any resolution and its fine however

When i select 2560x1440 the screen shudders up and down every so slighty like its on a vibrating table, this happens roughly every 5-10 seconds.

Change the res back to anyother and its fine.

Have used driver sweeper and reinstalled drivers but no difference.

XFX say maybe its the monitor but never had problem with 7970 so it cant be.

Monitor is a Dell U2711

Any ideas?

Have you tried setting the refresh down a little to a max of 60hz and try in 16bit colour before setting to that resolution?

Monitor only supports a 60hz refresh rate. Same problem in 16bit colour.

Color would not be an issue as the monitor supports 30bit color, and you have the correct resolution. How are you connected to the graphics card (DVI, etc.)?
