The P-2000 has received quite positive reviews overall as an external storage
device. What I understood from the various reviews is that it is easy to store
the photos from my CF card on the local disk, preview them, organize them in
some sort of Albums (though the naming of those seems to be a bit odd), and then
move them to the PC. Because it behaves as an exteranl disk for the PC (I
presume) it is easy to remove the files from the disk, too.

So far so good, this means that the device is a perfect companion when one
travels and does not want to carry a PC around just to free space on the CF
card. However, how easy is it to use it as a long-term storage device, too?

What I usually do with my photos is copy them to the PC, filter them out (by
throwing away 60% of them:-), improve them via Photoshop, and then organize the
photos in my own folders for, say, the cities where I took them. I can then look
at my photos on my PC using some standard tools. What I would like is to make a
copy of all these folders on the Epson for long term storage, and be able to
view them on the Epson screen. I presume these folders would *not* be the same
as the Albums as Epson organizes them, just files stored on the local, 40G disk.

I guess the question is whether the local operating system can 'see' any image
files, wherever they are in any folder or not. (Valid question: I have a PDF
running symbian where, though I can store data locally on a, say, memory stick,
the photo viewer software finds pictures only in certain, dedicated folders...).

Thanks for any help on the matter. I still have to decide whether to invest into
a P-2000....
