Sharing Problems

I have a laptop and desktop computer. Laptop is Windows 7 32bit and the desktop is Windows 64bit. I don't want to use homegroups. I can ping the laptop just fine, but the laptop can't ping the desktop, this is WITHOUT firewall. When I click on the desktop computer form the laptop I get "Windows cannon access \\computer" error code 0x80070035. Any help to get sharing working here is appreciated.

First try Homegroups....you can always do it another way later, once you are sure they will actually connect, and its not a hardware problem...

A homegroup already exists on my network. When I go to make the other computers join it just gives me an option to create one.
