Hey. can i push the gtx 660 ti to the full potential out of either of these cpus? Which one will do a better job overall? I play games like skyrim, battlefield 3, Sleeping dogs etc. Specially are either of these cpus good enough to run skyrim at ultra preset with frames 55 and higher? Please give me some ideas. Thanks in advance :??:

Really? Will 4300 do the job? Would it better than the 965 BE?. I want the best performance for that price range(as i cannot afford Intel i5s, let alone i7s). Which one would you recommend for 660 ti? 4300 or 965 BE or 6300?

Oh really? i mean i just totaled a 990FX board and a FX 6300 together and got 370... now you can get a 3570k for: 214 with a promo code and get a ASRock Extreme4 for 119$.. and its a great board i use it in my main rig and have no issues out of it.. and the owner before my got 4.8GHZ on his I7 2700K with it.. and it still works like a charm

Now this is price of the motherboard and 3570K totaled with shipped expenses totaled in and final price is: 341.87

Price of a ASUS Crosshair V Formula is 229 (free shipping) and 139.99 for the FX 6300... thats a 368.99 price tag

Yes i know, i put the highest end AMD board.. and yea i know u can change the motherboard out in that equation

I'd recommend the 6300 over the 4300 because it can be had for only $10 more, which is an excellent improvement for such a small cost.

Why would you buy a $240 motherboard with a $140 CPU?

I will go with 965 BE for now. The reason is it a true quad core, (It will be diffrent if u go with 83xx)

btw your mobo need to double check if it support the 83xx, 63xx, or 43xx

edit: expect to O.C. with both chip.....

Don't turn this to some troll threat stick with the question....

Why would you buy a 300$ Unlocked CPU and a 130$ motherboard... come on kid...

Had u check the price ?

The last time i check in new egg is $ 140 for 6300..

Are u been drinking? (where did u get $300 from)

Edit: I think u can safely ignore his post, looks like he trolling IMO....

Yea I'm ignoring his comments.. and where i did i get the price? well the i7's that are K's are 300+ soo there where i got the 300$..

If you have a AM3+ board I think it won't matter much. You can get the 965 BE now (cheaper), and get Steamroller when it comes out (upgrade). It should come out on the same socket, since AM3+ is compatible with Phenom II.

If you want.

for battlefield 3 the 6300 will be better. BF3 can actually use the entire cpu.

skyrim would probably be a tie, maybe a little faster on the 6300

best available right now for skyrim vs the PII. the 6300 is a little slower than the 8350 but faster than the 8150 on skyrim.

Unless you are on an extreme budget I would take the 6300, Phenom II have finally been reasonably surpassed. Also 6300 only costs a little more the 4300 so its worth pipping the extra.

Saying that if you own the Phenom already I wouldn't upgrade right now wait a few months and watch prices drop. FX bulldozer released high and dropped quickly now this new gen may not have released as high but I still think the price is over what they should be and I would bet an eye that within a few months you will see their prices slide.

Whoa, hold on a second. Take another look at the benchmark that Noob posted. Don't worry, I'll wait.

If you already have a 955/965, I wouldn't bother "upgrading" to BD/PD. The performance difference just isn't worth it. If you are buying a new system, why get AMD? The Intel systems are all ahead of what AMD can pull off. For a gaming rig I would rather have the 2500k, 3470, or 3570. You would get much better performance from these CPUs.

Because if somebody is building on a budget getting an i53570 can mean getting a low end GPU, getting a cheaper FX 43xx or 63xx (along with the often cheaper board) can mean getting a better GPU. The system there with the better GPU is going to game better in the majority of titles. The review benches are using a top shelf GPU so while they indicate CPU performance they are not entirely relevent to some guy considering a low/lower mid range card, where the GPU will be his choke point irrelevent of if he has an old Phenom II or an i7 3930k..... That's why in my opinion AMD have done a decent job with PD and for a budget gamer it is a serious option though granted as I said earlier I think prices need to slip a bit (and I bet will).

I understand that the GPU can often matter more, but I don't buy the AMD for cheap builds. Here is Oct. best CPUs for the money.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-3.html

The 4170 gets a tie, but all the other low end CPUs are Intels. (at least on the first two pages.) I haven't seen anything that says PD is a much better gaming CPU then Stars/BD. (a bit yes, but most games are still low threaded and needs a high IPC.) As such, I can't see getting the new 4xxx and 6xxx chips from AMD, if the 3450 and such will provide a better experience in more games.
