Which Intel i5 - Intel i5 2550k vs Intel I5 3570k

Well the 3570k is the new generation, if theres not much of a price difference you will get more of a benefit from that. Uses newer technologies etc. Both are unlocked for overclocking, but i think serious overclockers will say to stick with the 2nd gen chips, as they use less heat. If your just doing a mild one then go with the 3570k, its pretty much as good as you can get for gaming. Whats your budget and requirements on a motherboard?

I was going to suggest my board - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Z77-Extreme4-Motherboard-Supports-CrossFireX/dp/B007KTY4A6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351329150&sr=8-1 The reason in got it, is that it has a lot of features of more expensive ones, and looks great. Better heatsinks, more ports and SLI/xfire capability. It really depends on your budget.

You said "might overclock" and overclocking requires a z75 or z77 chipset motherboard to unlock multipliers.

Unless you get a z75/z77 motherboard, you might as well save another $20-30 by getting a non-K CPU.

If you are using dedicated graphics card, which you definitely are, then go with intel. They are just better for gaming right now. The 3570k shouldnt bottleneck. A basic cooler on it will get 4.2ghz or so out of it, and do fine.
