Is this good for gaming

hi i need to know if this will be any good for playing games like gta 4 and crysis 2 battlefield 3 at max settings


amd phenom2 965 cpu (will overclock)

asus m4a79xtd evo motherboard

The GPU is a decent choice but everything else isn't. Don't get a Phenom II 965 when an i3-2120 or i5-3450 will be far better CPUs to run.

The i3-2120 retails for around ~$125 and it's a far better choice than the Phenom II is. The i5-3450 on the other hand is a dedicated quad core CPU and it retails for around $199.

The radeon hd 6950 is a decent card, but you shouldn't short change your CPU for an expensive GPU that will get bottlenecked in multiplayer by a slow CPU anyways.

Take a look at the Intel Core i5 23XX (not k) series. Can probably put together a decent i5 23XX with an HD 6870/6850 and be around the same price as a HD 6950 and a Phenom II 965 system and have close to the same results, but a much much better CPU.

^This is true - HD 6870 is nearly as capable as HD 6950, but costs about $50 less. Definitely put that toward an i5.
