I5 3570k vs AMD FX 8150?

I'm building a new PC so I wonder which of those 2 processors should I buy? I wanted i5 3570k but I see the FX 8150 has 8 cores it sounds better and it is cheaper. Which one should I buy?

  1. i5 will be much better. Cores don't mean everything.
  2. Get the Core i5-3570k, it's better in most cases. Even the newer FX 8350 isn't quite a match for the Core i5-3570k, though it's much closer.
  3. Well the FX 8150 might sound better but in reality it isn't.Well it is in some cases but i doubt you convert lots of videos, trace rays or compress/decompress huge archives.
Grab the Core i5 3570K and don't look back.

But still if you, in fact DO some of these things or others that can take advantage of all 8 cores then you'll be happier with a AMD FX-8320 instead.
  4. I guess I'll go wtih i5 I don't render videos a lot, I might do it but it isn't that much. And if I choose to upgrade it I'd rather go with i7 later.
  5. If you are going to play games with the computer the i5 is better. If render or uses a lot of cpu intensive programs the 8150 is better.

if you don't do either, both cpu are overkill and there is no difference in perceived performance.

But in that case you should probably get a FX 8320 instead.

yes but that was not the question.

well it doesn't really matter until he confirms it.
  10. Honestly you want to get the most out of your money. I paid only $100 for my FX 8120 CPU. Then I paid $90 to get another GTX 460 to SLI. If you ask me that's one heck of an upgrade for $190. But you're probably not in a similar situation. The i5 3570k is the better CPU hands down. Unless you're in a situation where you already have some of the necessary hardware or can find super steep discounts don't go for the FX 8150. It's a decent CPU but it just isn't there in terms of performance against the mainstream intel cpu's.
