Can I add another video card?

I was wondering if I could add another video card to my build. I would like to be able to use three monitors and with my current set-up two is a stretch.

Gigabyte GA-970A-D3
AMD FX-8150
XFX AMD Radeon HD 6870 (I'd add a second one of these)
Arctic Blue 850W
4x2GB sticks DDR3 RAM

Thanks guys!

You need a card with at least 2GB of Vram for 3 monitors. I'd suggest selling your card and buying one powerful card.

    I'd recommend a HD7850 as minimum unless you can find a cheap HD6950 2GB.
  3. I don't plan to OC much. I had problems with it in the past and it caused me many frustrating phone calls to tech support.
  4. So one card with 2GB would be a better trade off compared to two cards at 1GB each?
  5. wait doesnt he/she need a 990fx mobo
  6. Good point, most 970's Xfire just fine, but that one in particular is not good for Xfire, so basically you need a new card.
  7. Then a new card with 2GB would be the best bet?
I didn't expect to ever use more than one monitor, so I never planned that far ahead.
Wouldn't my board be okay, just a tight fit and be a little close on the cards?
  8. Your second pci-e slot is only 4x.
  9. Yeah, you're right, it is, I overlooked that.
I appreciate all your help. I think I'm going to go with a 7870 single card. It appears to be the cheapest option and one of the better solutions short of buying a new board and card.
