ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I know my computer is outdated but im looking for a great card under $150 that can run perfectly with my current specs. was looking at the 550ti but I'm not sure it would work with my moBo

550Ti should work.

on the nvidia side, that would be 550ti. If you can squeeze a bit more, you can get a 560. I know that tiger direct has a 560ti 1gb for 189 before rebate but it apparently has heating problems.

Anything over a 550ti is going to bottlenecked by your cpu, so that's a pretty good choice.

AMD radeon 7770, faster than a 550TI, sips power, small card, runs very cool. Radeon 6850 is a great card too if you don't mind last gen, same power requirements as a 550ti, but its much faster (about as fast as a 560gtx)

6850 over 550ti. same price and a bit faster. in terms of tech 7770 is newer, smaller, and cooler but 6850 is better in raw performance.

u should be fine. most of your parts still have alot of power to push the 6850.
