Phenom II 975 Black -vs- i5 2300

I've seen a lot debate here on these two. I have 2 nearly identical systems to choose from. This will be mainly a gaming PC. So here they are, which one is the most bang for the buck?

no contest i5 2300 wins. unless you want to invest a lot in a liquid cooling system and OC the crap out of the AMD chip, then you just trade benchmarks with the i5

note: the 6870 is a better GPU so the FPS in would be really close between the 2 systems
