Help with wake on LAN

I am using a wake on lan app on my ipod so i can wake my computer from sleep. Im running into a problem though. When i go into configure my network adapter, and go to the power management tab, if "allow the computer to turn of this device to save power" is unchecked, the app works, but when the computer comes back on it cant connect to the internet, if it is checked, the app doesnt work, but when the computer turns back on the internet works. Any ideas on how to solve this problem, so the internet will work when it wakes and the app will work, thanks

If there's a tick to require a password on wake or when coming out of screen saver, that would explain a thing or two.

All password on wake settings have been disabled

on another forum, someone mentioned something about the nic remaining asleep when the computer wakes up, could this be the problem, and if so, how could I fix it?

So long as that "Allow the computer to turn this off" is unticked in Device Manager>{adapter}>Properties>Power Management, I can think of no other reason. If it's USB dongle, make the same change to th epower management settings in the relevant USB port.
